CHEERS TO 13.1!

Prepare to take a scenic journey on this 13.1-mile route through Napa and Sonoma’s wine country. Enjoy the views as you pass through rolling vineyards, ranches, and farms as you start in Napa on your way to a finish in front of historic Sonoma Plaza!  Run 13.1 miles and then taste local wines at the post-race wine festival.

Participants participating in “The Pairing” will need to pick up their Rosé 5K bib between 6:30am – 7:45am ahead of Saturday’s Rosé 5K race.

EVENT INFORMATION

HALF MARATHON COURSE MAP

Out of the starting gate, you’ll take a left turn on Duhig Rd. and make your ascent up Butt Burner Hill. Once over the crest, it’s a beautiful cruise downhill into the Carneros wine appellation. Enjoy vistas of the Napa-Sonoma Marshes Wildlife Preserve, San Pablo Bay and Mt. Tamalpais in Marin as you wind through hundreds of rolling acres of vineyards and wineries. The course also passes ranches and farms filled with a variety of animals including horses, cows, pigs, sheep, goats, llamas, chickens, and donkeys.

PARKING & SHUTTLES

There is no parking at the start line however, there are multiple options for getting yourself to the start of the half marathon.  Review the Parking & Shuttles page of our website for updated information.

AID STATIONS

Please find the approximate aid station locations below:

Miles 2, 4, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 9.5, 11.5

Water is provided at all aid stations along the course.  An electrolyte will be provided at the stations at Miles 4, 6.5, 9.5, and 11.5.

An energy gel will also be provided at the aid station at Mile 7.5 of the half marathon course.

GEAR CHECK

Gear Check will be available for all half marathon participants.  Gear check will be located in two locations prior to the start of the race: adjacent to the start line at Cuvaison Winery AND in Sonoma Plaza near the intersection of E Spain St and 1st St E.  Gear check collected at Cuvaison Winery will be transported to Sonoma Plaza for pick-up after you finish the race.  Head to the intersection of E Spain St and 1st St E to pick up your items after the race.

Clear, plastic bags, will be available at Packet Pick-up for use at the Gear Check tent.  All items must be placed in this clear bag.  Please attach the gear check tag on your bib to your clear plastic bag using the provided cable ties.

Gear Check will open to drop off bags at 5:30am at both locations and all items must be retrieved from Sonoma Plaza no later than 11:00am.  Please do not check valuables.  Gear is checked at your own risk.  The race is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged bags.

POST-RACE WINE FESTIVAL

All half marathon participants aged 21 years of age or older receive (1) admission to the post-race wine festival featuring local wineries from Napa and Sonoma’s wine country.  The wine festival will be held in Sonoma Plaza on Sunday, July 16th from 9:00am – 12:00pm.  Please visit the Wine Festival page of our website for additional information.

COURSE TIME LIMIT

The half marathon has a course time limit of 3.5 hours.  Participants will need to maintain a pace of 16 minutes, 30 seconds per mile in order to complete the race.  Due to the nature of the rural roads on course, if a participant falls behind the established pace time, they may be asked to join the sweep vehicle to be moved ahead on course.

AWARDS

The top 3 male and female finishers in the half marathon will receive an overall award.

The top 3 male and female finishers in each age group in the half marathon will receive an award.  Please see the age groups below:
20 & Under, 21-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Awards must be picked up on-site from the Age Group Awards table in Sonoma Plaza in front of Sonoma City Hall.  Awards will not be mailed post-race.
